Folk från det förflutna börjar oförklarligt dyka upp i havet. Ett par år senare paras kriminalaren Lars Haaland ihop med Alfhildr Enginnsdottir, den första polisen med vikingaursprung, för att lösa ett mystiskt mordfall i Oslo.
